The FinTech expert of the year

Yuriy Batkhin is an expert on payment innovations. He joined the Mastercard team in 2012 and became one of the implementers of revolutionary payment technologies and solutions in Ukraine. Under his leadership, the first NFC wallets for smartphones on the market were launched. Yuriy also took part in Google Pay and Apple Pay launches in Ukraine. Currently 21 NFC wallets of 18 banks which work through the Mastercard digital platform (MDES) are presented in Ukraine. It contributed to the significant growth of NFC payments in Ukraine. According to data, the number of contactless mobile payments made in the country with Mastercard has increased 68-fold in one year, the number of connected devices is growing by 25% a month in the country, on average.
Also, Yury Batkhin actively participated in the launch of the Masterpass digital wallet platform, which provided a fundamentally different experience of online payments. It allows to pay faster and securer in one click, without having to enter card data every time. With Masterpass today you can make utility, administrative and other regular payments, pay for parking, fuel at gas stations and for many other goods and services.
Yuriy acted as mentor and curator of the first fintech start-up incubation program for fintech startups, organized by Mastercard in partnership with 1991 Open Data and supported by the NBU.
